Las Vegas
Images/Opinions on our trip, September, 2000
Overall comment is that this was an awesome 4 night, 5 day stay at the PARIS.

Paris Hotel from the Bilagio Hotel directly across the Strip. In the foreground is the lake where the watershows occurred.

The Tower is 450' high and an exact replica. There is a restaurant at the top of the first level and an observation deck ($8.00 for trip) at the top.

To the left is Bally's which is owned by the same corporation. There is a direct physical connection between the two properties.

Bilagio from Paris.

Note the Water Show that occurs every 15/30 minutes to music. Very much fun!

This is shot from the road. The strip has very serious traffic. At the time of this shot all traffic were halted to allow traffic not in the shot. You do not jaywalk, you can get runover!

All pedestrian lanes are well marked with signals. Some even have "countdowns" to cross the road.

Bilagio Water Show.

This image doesn't do it justice, just a moment in time. The entire view isn't captured nor is the awesome music. There are "runways" of water jets that fire off to the music sending plumes of water 100 feet high all across the lake.

In this image, they are "swaying" to the music, only 30' high.

The show is every 30 minutes before 7 pm, every 15 minutes after.

Paris Facade

Note the tower and the architectural detail. We're talking billions of bucks for the recreation. Very impressive, and immerse.

This is the "status quo" on the Strip. In the last seven years since we were last there, it's a completely different experience. It works. It's a total pleasure experience that you want to come back to.

This isn't Atlantic City.

Two views of the "main entrance" through the Arch.

Taxi, personal car, valet well designed.

Interior view of Paris.

This is a typical view of the "streets". You walk down them and are amazed at the detail.

It's very pleasent and it adds to the joy of the experience. Yet, there are people, lots of them. You know that you are in a casino, and they're in shorts. You are not in Paris, France.

Yet, if you stop and look around, it's still amazing and it adds to the pleasure of the environment.

Interior view of Paris.

Left is typical of the "street" feeling, a cafe that you can look into and get enticed.

Right is a "server". Note how the chair color matches her uniform.

Curious, she kept asking for "Big Rich".

Gaming Area.

Various "landmarks" help orient in this huge space - grills above tables and the center fountain.

Note the "sky" 30' above.

Hotel Detail

Note the detail on such a mundane space as an elevator.

You really appreciate what they have done to make this Luxurious.

Two views from the window on the 28th floor room. Architecture again, is very impressive.

Levels immediately above 28th can't be booked, reserved for "high rollers".

Two views of the Bedroom. Centerpiece is the entertainment unit which holds allot including an excellent safe. Note ironing board which was in a closet.

Two views of the Bathroom.

Bath featured a real tub, and a beautiful marble/glass shower.

Marble vanity and floor, impressive!

"Walking Around" ... other sites and events on the trip.

Steak House patio at Paris. Note the water spray.
That's "Las Vegas air conditioning".
It's everywhere, especially at the pools, and it works.

How about "attention to detail". This guys job was to remove gum and other black things from the patio of the Paris.

Conservatory at Bilagio. A large atrium with a domed
glass ceiling and incredible floral displays. When you
walk into the space, it's "wow" - both visually and smell.

Desert Passage. This is a very large "mall" at the Aladdin next to the Paris. It's an Arabian theme, so you walk down streets and get exposed to many shops and restraunts. Millons spent on the architecture.

Desert Passage. Another view showing the towers and
the painted ceiling. At one point of the walk, the sky
darkens
and it actually rains into a small lake with thunder
and lightning! (click on image for larger view)

Desert Passage. Janet at a "street vendor" that's selling peal based items. If you want, you get a live peal for free (tank left side of image). Very friendly and reasonably priced.

Venetian. This is the facade looking up as you drive up to the lobby. Needless to say, impressive as are all the new properties on "The Strip". (click on image for larger view) Venetian. This is "THE LOBBY". You can't understand how such marble, granite can be crafted, yet alone afforded. You only see this if you drive in, street walk-in's see the slots. All planned, big time.

Mirage. Excellent, but brief aquarium that allows you to watch Dolphins both below and above. They have a tour that's simple, but they take questions. Apparently a serious research project. Mirage. Same Park, this time featuring Sigfield and Roy's animals from the act. Again a promotion for their environmental program, apparently serious.

Notes: All shots were taken with Olympus 2020 digital camera in "HQ" (1600x1200 pixels). Most with flash off and on Automatic setting to show architectural lighting. All images were adjusted in Adobe Photoshop... autolevel, brightness and contrast and occasionally color balance . Page designed in Macromedia Dreamweaver with extensive use of tables. Images on page 300x225 pixels, "click larger" 800x600.
